The Business Career Centre (BCC) is an invaluable resource for your professional development. As a UBC MBA candidate you’ll have access to all the BCC offers, including:

One-on-one career coaching

Starting from day one of your MBA, you’ll get one-on-one support to develop your unique professional brand, explore your career options and make powerful connections with potential employers.

Career development classes and workshops

The BCC hosts a wide range of workshops and events, such as:

  • Workshops on cover letter writing, networking, interviewing, and salary negotiations
  • Mock interview practice

Networking and recruiting events

The Business Career Centre invests significant time and resources to develop relationships with employers, from dynamic startups to big global brands. As a UBC MBA candidate you’ll be able to take part in networking and recruiting events where you’ll gain insight into industries and meet potential employers. Events include:

Experiential Learning Opportunities

The best way to learn is to do. This principle is a big part of the UBC MBA program and it’s also a big part of what we offer at the Business Career Centre. You’ll get hands-on experience pursuing a summer internship or entrepreneurial project where you can bring cutting-edge knowledge to real-world business problems. You’ll also be able to apply your classroom learning in business clinics and on the Global Immersion program.

Job and events board

Once admitted to the MBA program, you will have access to Career Options On-Line (COOL), Sauder’s jobs and events database. Through COOL, you can view and apply for job opportunities, schedule interviews, and sign-up for events and coaching appointments.

Interview Prep

Conducting an effective interview is critical to your career progression. The Business Career Centre helps you develop and refine your interview technique through mock interviews with an experienced professional consultant. And you will have access to InterviewStream, an online video platform for practicing interviews.

MyMBACareer – online information and learning platform

Your platform for planning your professional journey including self-reflection tools, tool kits and links to resources.

LinkedIn and your digital brand

LinkedIn has become even more important than your resume. As a result, we take your online professional brand very seriously. From self and peer assessment, to workshops and critical feedback from your career coach, you will have the support you need to develop a strong digital brand and leverage this important tool.

3rd Party resources and research tools

The Business Career Centre invests in external resources to support your exploration and development, including Vmock, Interview Stream and Vault.

The David Lam Management Research Library also has a wide range of resources to help you research industries, companies, and job opportunities. The library website complements these activities with a powerful research tool that provides remote access to an array of databases and resources. To help you find the information you need, the library's staff offer individualized instruction on using the many available tools.

CFA Institution Program Partner

The UBC Sauder School of Business is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Program Partner, an internationally recognized designation certifying that the UBC MBA meets the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge. As a CFA Program Partner, UBC Sauder gives its students the edge they need in pursuing this professional designation and careers in positions as financial analyst, portfolio manager, and investment advisors.
